Migration Specialties Europe is pleased to announce the release of a new version of Avanti, AvantiFlex and FreeAXP Virtual Alpha.
This new version, 5.0.0, contains important bugfixes and performance enhancements, as well as the following new functionality:
- Avanti and AvantiFlex now use a software-based license key instead of a USB license key.
- An Avanti or AvantiFlex virtual Alpha now always requires the same number of license units, regardless of whether it is the first emulator on a host system or not (no more 40 license unit penalty for each additional emulator).
- It is now possible to select the KZPCA wide SCSI controller in a FreeAXP configuration.
- Additional idle loop signatures for patched OpenVMS V8.4 and Tru64 UNIX 4.0 enable automatic idling of the emulator when running these operating system versions.
- The version of PuTTY included with the emulator has been updated to version 0.82.
FreeAXP users can, and are recommended to, upgrade to the new version at any time.
Avanti and AvantiFlex customers need to contact Migration Specialties Europe to replace their USB license key with a software-based license key before installing the new version. THE NEW VERSION WILL NOT WORK WITH A USB LICENSE KEY! Please contact us at
