No need to re-install OpenVMS. Your virtual disks will not be affected by the re-installation of FreeAXP.

Thanks for the feedback on the documentation. We will add the following text to the User Guide under the NIC configuration section:

< class='quote'>Note: If a host NIC is added or changed after Avanti has been installed, it will not show up on the configuration utility pull down list. Re-install Avanti to allow it to re-scan available network devices and add the new device to the list.

OK, there is now a new choice in the NIC dropdown box: 'Local Area Connection (TAP-Windows Adapter V9)' which I have selected on pc-11. As I stated before there is no 'Configure' option on FreeAXP so no way to select 'Always connected' or 'Bridge connections'.

I did try to ftp again but got a 'Connection failure' message (I expected this.).

Am I supposed to configure a second NIC (say pc-12)?

Glad to be of assistance <img src='../images/smiley/wink.gif' alt='smiley'>

No need for a second NIC at pc-12. Now it should be a matter of correctly configuring VMS. Can you ping the IP address assigned to VMS (10.1.1.20)?

Couple of things:

1- Reinstalling FreeAxp or Avanti is not needed. Rebooting Windows, or stopping and restarting the MSIPCAP service is enough (step 6 in the list in section 9.3). (Reinstalling FreeAXP reinstalls the service, which causes it to restart).

2- Always connected and Bridge connections are done from the Windows control panel - adapter settings window, not from the configuration utility. Without doing this, it will not work.

No, I get 'destination unreachable'.

This is what I did:

Settings-&gt;Control Panel-&gt;Device Manager: set TAP-Window Adapter V9 to 'Always Connected'.
There is no way in Device manager to select more than one adapter at a time.

Settings-&gt;Network Connections: able to select TAP-Window V9 Adapter and Intel Wireless Adapter. Set to 'Bridged Connections'. This seemed to install a new adapter 'Network Bridge - MAC Bridge Miniport' which has been given the name of my wireless internet connection.

Fired up FreeAXP/VMS, and Ipswitch WS-FTP. Tried to connect to 10.1.1.20 and received a 'Connect failure'.
