Freeaxp networking issue was created by vkorkko
I have been suffering from Freeaxp NOT networking since quite some time. I am running OpenVMS almost all the time so maybe this delayd problem resolution. At some point my Freeaxp OpenVMS just stopped networking. I could oocasionally get it working but mostly just for once and shutdown, next powerup it would fail again.
I have tried most everything. I tried disablling most everyrthing on windoze w.r.t to nic. I tried STOP/RESTART MSIPCAP, downgrade to earlier versions but all failing. Sometimes it looked like problem solved but then problem continues.
TODAY, finally, I accitdentally tried another conf., a Tru64 setup and it works fine whereas my OpenVMS still did not work. Upgrade to latest fresh version, nope.
But as the Tru64 works fine and VMS does not and the .CFG likes look same and btw VMS works if I first boto up SIMH VAX and next this FreeAXP VMS this lead me to: is there something funny on my OpenVMS
$ MCR LANCP PURGE DEVICE /ALL
$ reboot
and now works just fine.
Well, as it happens , this windoze machine has 32-bit windows 7 so Freeaxp is the choise. I have another windoze 7 with 64 bit so there I had EMUVM-FREE, another free solution. at some poitn I had copied over the DKA0.IMG over to there, sone some stuff, copied over the DKA0.IMG back and had the problem.
Now, I would have not expected this. BUt it looks like EMUVM does something so that lan device database gets somethign that FREEAXP does not like.
Of course I have clustering enabled and satellite boot and stuff but..
Oh boy, I have spent quite some time on figuring out why FREEAXP suddenly has problems with networking. $MCR LANCP PURGE DEVICE/ALL and reboot
btw, I tried to register as <a href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection" class="__cf_email__" data-cfemail="9fe9faf3f6b1f4f0edf4f4f0dff8f2fef6f3b1fcf0f2">[email protected]</a>. did not work out, so posting now as <a href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection" class="__cf_email__" data-cfemail="6d1b19062d0308191904430b04">[email protected]</a>.

I have also problem. Get:

and:
< class='quote' style='width:400px;white-space:nowrap;overflow:auto'><code style='white-space:nowrap'>$ sho dev ewa0 /full

Now I am just a simple hobbyist, but long ago I think I would have tried some thing like "MC SYSGEN"/"CONFIG ALL". But now I have no idea <img src='../images/smiley/sad.gif' alt='smiley'>
I tried your < class='quote' style='width:400px;white-space:nowrap;overflow:auto'><code style='white-space:nowrap'>$ MCR LANCP PURGE DEVICE /ALL
$ reboot<br><br><br></code> but I suppose my information is in another database...

If you are running DECnet, make sure it starts first on boot, before TCP/IP.
Other emulators may use other NIC types. When moving to FreeAXP you may need to reconfigure the NIC using NETCONFIG.COM and UCX$CONFIG.COM or TCPIP$CONFIG.COM.
