FreeAXP v4.0.0.679 install failure

Folks,

I tried to install FreeAXP v4.0.0.679 on Windows 11 but it displayed pop error message said that.

An external action failed.
Installation will be cancelled.

Does anyone have any working-around solution with that?

Updarte: I tried to install FreeAXP 4.0.0.671 and it worked fine. Only 679 version failed with external action failure. Use 671 version for Windows 11 system.

It works ok for me.... (I was testing with Win 11 Pro N, fresh install under VMware)


The installer places a log in the user's appdata tree :

c:\Users\userName\AppData\Local\Temp\decsetup-20230522...-install

It ~may~ contain something .... it depends on how far it got, and how it exited ...

Another couple of thoughts ...

Is your Win11 fully updated.... ?

Have you a pre-installed version of WinPcap (or similar), perhaps from some
other s/w ?
... and/or during the install dialog, did you select/unselect the MSI Pcap driver ?
