Pasting large amounts of text into either of the serial ports using PuTTY may result in data lost. On the console port (OPA0), this behavior is consistent with the behavior of the console on a real AlphaServer 400. We believe this to be a limitation of the console firmware.

On the second serial port (TTA0), this seems to be an issue with PuTTY. We do not see the problem when using commercial terminal emulators like KEAterm or Smartterm.

For example:

Using PuTTY on TTA0 under VMS:

- Open a EDIT/TPU session.

- Paste a large about of text.

- Data lost and data overruns experienced.

Same sequence with KEAterm does not loose data.

The behavior is a bit inconsistent:

Using PuTTY on TTA0 under VMS:

- Use CREATE from the command line.

- Paste same text buffer.

- No data loss or overruns.

I've played with the various configuration settings within PuTTY, but have not hit on a combination that alleviates the data loss problem on TTA0: Any suggestions?
